PREVENTION
We understand that not everyone loves coming to the dentist (although are trying real hard to change that). Prevention and early detection is always our preferred approach.
Through good hygiene, education and thorough examination we aim to minimise all forms of dental disease. Prevention may also involve the use of sealants, fluoride therapy or tooth mousse application.
HYGIENE
We want you to be the best version of you there is and this includes having super healthy gums. Here at Gilbert St, we are approaching your dental hygiene a little differently. we recognise the major link your oral health has on the rest of your body.
Gum disease is common- affecting around 30% of adults in Australia. it tends not to hurt, and many people don’t even realise they have it. But did you know gum disease has been linked to cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, auto-immune diseases and dementia?
We’re on a mission to keep your mouth healthy and imbalance. our wonderful hygienists use a combination of traditional and innovative ways to test, diagnose, and treat gum disease, and will also teach you how to keep things in check.
What does this all result in? Healthy gums, a smile you can keep for life and a healthier version of you!
CHILDREN’S DENTISTRY
We love seeing kids!! Getting little ones into a comfortable, preventive routine reduces the likelihood of developing dental anxiety and also means any issues can be resolved quickly and when they are only little issues.
Our dentists and hygienists work closely together to ensure your child receives the best over-all care.
MOUTH GUARDS,
NIGHT GUARDS
& SNORE GUARDS
MOUTH GUARDS
Customised sport mouth guards provide the best protection from sporting injuries. They are designed to absorb shock, which in turn prevents injury to the teeth, bones and soft tissues. Because they are custom fitted, they are by far the most comfortable option – meaning that once it’s in – it stays in. You can chose from a range of colour combinations or for a small surcharge even design your own!
NIGHT-GUARDS
“Bruxism” is a term used to describe tooth clenching or grinding. Bruxing affects a large percentage of the population and tends to occur in relation to stress. when severe, patients may experience headaches, jaw aches, muscle pain and difficulty chewing, cracked or worn down teeth.
A night guard is a clear, hard splint – similar in appearance to the mouthguard which you wear at night (when most bruxism occurs). it not only prevents the tooth-on-tooth contact, but it alleviates pressure in the jaw joint. Many of our patients find a night guard an absolute game-changer.
SNORE GUARDS
Snoring occurs when the soft tissues around the throat relax and vibrate whilst you are breathing. By repositioning the lower jaw, these soft tissues are stretched, and a marked reduction in snoring occurs. Snore guards are a great choice for 70% of snorers. Sometimes in cases of moderate to severe sleep apnea a CPAP machine is required. Talk to us today about whether an anti-snore appliance is the right device for you.
