TOOTH WHITENING

Who doesn’t love a fresh, white smile? We just love helping our patients achieve bright and beautiful results!

Tooth whitening involves removing stains and discolouration from your teeth and improving the colour of your teeth, by making them appear whiter.

It works through a bleaching process, where a peroxide based gel, at varying concentrations is applied to the teeth.

At Gilbert Street Dental, we offer 2 main types of Teeth whitening:

1. TAKE-HOME TEETH WHITENING

Bespoke or custom-made trays are made for your teeth. we will send you home with our favourite whitening formulation and clear instructions on how to apply the gel. This process takes longer, but will eventually get you the long-lasting result you require.

COST: $450

2. COMBINATION TEETH WHITENING

In-surgery Teeth whitening PLUS Take-home Teeth whitening.

Also known as laser teeth whitening or power teeth whitening. A concentrated gel is placed over your teeth, and activated by the Erbium Yag laser light. This process takes around an hour, and jump starts your tooth whitening process. Custom-made trays are also made for your teeth and we will send you home with these.

A combination of the two above procedure provides the perfect solution to both immediate and long-term teeth whitening needs.

COST: $750

Consultation and assessment is always required prior to tooth whitening, and the appropriate method of whitening based on this will be discussed.

PORCELAIN VENEERS

Porcelain veneers have become increasingly popular because they can improve your smile dramatically in a relatively short period of time.

Veneers can be used alone or in conjunction with orthodontics, full-coverage crowns, and/or selective “composite bonding” to achieve the customised smile makeover that you desire. You should be aware that placing veneers requires a high degree of technical skill in addition to very precise laboratory fabrication and careful attention to cosmetic detail.

HOW VENEERS ARE APPLIED

There are a few steps to placing dental veneers, and it usually takes a few appointments:

  1. Diagnostic impression: we take an initial impression, which is used to create a mockup wax model of what we want to achieve.
  2. Patient discussion: when the mockup is ready, you return to the office so we can discuss the design with you. we may even do a demonstration on your teeth with temporary materials, to mimic what the final restoration will look like.
  3. Enamel preparation: next, we numb the area for greater comfort and remove a small layer of the enamel, just enough to accommodate the thin porcelain. Then we take accurate impressions and have them sent to a lab.
  4. Temporary veneers: while we wait for the lab, you will be provided with temporary veneers. They are very thin and must be cared for carefully so that they don’t pop off or break.

  1. Veneer placement: once the porcelain veneers are delivered from the dental laboratory, we schedule another appointment to cement them permanently. We begin by cleaning the tooth. It is very important that your teeth be thoroughly cleaned before applied veneers, as we do not want to trap any bacteria or debris underneath them. We then use a special tool to roughen the surface of the tooth. This allows us to apply the dental cement that will hold the veneer. once the veneer is placed and properly adjusted, we use an ultraviolet curing light to harden it.

Your tooth is then ready to go! There is no extended recovery period for most veneer treatments.
You can eat and chew as you normally do.

MUSCLE-RELAXING INJECTIONS

Just like the knee-bone is connected to the leg bone… The mouth is connected to the rest of your face. Sometimes we need more than just nice teeth to make a great smile.
By relaxing the muscles around the face, we are able to reduce the appearance of fine lines, hide a gummy smile or soften over-active jaw muscles often seen in tooth grinders.

Some of the areas we can treat include:

  • Forehead lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Frown lines
  • Reduction of a gummy smile
  • Bruxism/ Masseter muscles (enlarged muscles and a squarer jaw line caused by excessive clenching or grinding)

We achieve this by injecting small amounts of a Botulinum Toxin based injection using very fine needles. The treatment is safe and effective. The treatments will take 20-30 minutes depending on how many areas you wish to treat. The treatments are non-surgical, minimally invasive and require very minimal recovery. The treatment lasts 3-6 months depending on your metabolism.
